On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, REALTOR.ca Canada Inc. became operational as a separate, taxable, wholly owned subsidiary of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA). That means REALTOR.ca assets have legally been transferred from CREA to the new company.
Since the Special General Meeting (SGM) vote in October 2024, we executed on a transition plan that included dividing budgets and resources between the two organizations, the implementation of a shared services plan, and other updates.
REALTOR® Advisory Committee
As part of CREA’s transition of REALTOR.ca to a taxable subsidiary, the CREA Technology Committee will be discontinued. In its place, REALTOR.ca Canada Inc. is launching a new committee: the REALTOR® Advisory Committee.
This committee will serve as an advisory body to ensure REALTOR.ca’s business strategies, policies, and product offerings align with the needs of REALTOR® members, their clients, and the real estate industry at large.
To learn more about the committee’s responsibilities, please see the Terms of Reference page and view the application.
REALTORS® are encouraged to apply.
Applications close Friday, May 16, 2025.
REALTOR.ca Transition Board of Directors
For the past couple of months, we’ve been working with an external agency to facilitate the recruitment of additional members to the REALTOR.ca transition board. Recruitment was a huge success, and we received more than 500 candidates. We anticipate selecting the additional members of the transition board later this month.
REALTOR.ca to Pilot Advertising
Following the launch of the mortgage qualification pilot last December, REALTOR.ca continues to action other key elements of the REALTOR.ca Forward business case, including exploring opportunities with advertising.
As of April 23, 2025, consumers visiting REALTOR.ca will be presented with programmatic advertising on the search results page across desktop and mobile websites, and the REALTOR.ca app. Note: Ads will not be placed on active listing pages.
This pilot will be guided by strict criteria to ensure that ads on REALTOR.ca align with the platform’s values of professionalism and trust, preserving its credibility and user experience while avoiding intrusive formats and complying with all legal, ethical, and industry advertising standards in Canada.
